Questions the authorities (police, social service agencies, etc.) should have asked regarding the premise of the 1980s television program “Diff’rent [sic] Strokes”

  1. Why did Mr. Drummond adopt his recently-deceased housekeeper’s two sons?

  2. Where are the boys’ relatives: grandparents, aunts and uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins, et al.? Why don’t we ever see them? Were the boys allowed to stay in touch with contacts from their life prior to taking up residence in Mr. Drummond’s home?

  3. What exactly happened to the boys’ father? Was Mr. Drummond culpable?
